Don Young is the U.S. Representative for Alaska's at-large congressional district. He is a Republican and the longest currently serving House member, having served 24 terms since 1973. Don received an associate's degree in education from Yuba College and a bachelor's degree from Chico State College. Young served in the Alaska House and the Alaska Senate. In 2017, he voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He claims that global warming is "the biggest scam since the Teapot Dome.” Young voted for the Trump tax cut for the wealthy. He believes marriage should be between a man and a woman and voted against protecting gay and lesbian people in the workplace. He maintains that the EPA kills jobs and should not regulate greenhouse gases. Young has regularly been the subject of investigations of political corruption. In 2013, the House Ethics Committee found he had improperly used campaign funds for personal expenses. The Committee ordered the monies be repaid; he was fined and rebuked. For three years in a row Young was included in the annual listing of the most corrupt members of Congress compiled by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. Rep. Young was asked a question about President Trump. Instead of answering the question from the individual in the progressive group MoveOn.org, he head-butted their camera. “There you go,” he said, as he walked into an elevator. Young is married to Anne Garland Walton. He has two children.
