Josh has said, “Thanks to my family’s public service, I have a passion for improving our education
system and helping students attend college or receive vocational training. I will fight for wages that
are equal to our hard work, make sure everyone has the opportunity to pursue an education that will
bring them prosperity where they live, and insure that no person has to choose between feeding
their family or paying for healthcare.”
Josh was born in El Dorado and grew up on a horse farm. He has a degree in Organizational
Management from John Brown University.
Josh Mahony is a leader in several state and local non-profits and is a part-owner of a natural
resources company. Josh has dedicated his career to improving the lives of thousands of Arkansas
families through service and philanthropy. Josh is President of the Arkansas Single Parent
Scholarship Fund, and past President of the Ozark Literacy Council Board of Directors, which
strives to promote literacy to non-native English speakers in Northwest Arkansas. He also is the
former Chairman of the Fayetteville Airport Board.
In 2018, Josh first got involved in electoral politics. Running in the most Republican Congressional
district in the state, Josh made positive gains for the Democratic Party during the race by adding
17,000 more voters to support the Democratic candidate and energizing and engaging the activist
base in a demographically changing part of the state.
Since the election, Josh has continued working to build a better Arkansas. He is the founder of the
New Leaders Council – Arkansas Chapter, which looks to recruit and train progressive millennial
leaders that will one day be the next candidates, political entrepreneurs and non-profit leaders of
Arkansas.
He and his wife, Rhianon, live in Fayetteville.
