Mike Enzi states his purpose as allowing: “the family to be strengthened by keeping more of what they earn, assuring jobs and their future with sound financial policies; restoring common sense to law and regulation; and, to promote decision-making at the level closest to the people-our communities, counties, school districts and most importantly our homes.” Enzi received his B.A. in Accounting from George Washington University and received an M.A. in Retail Marketing from University of Denver. After college, he served in the Wyoming Air National Guard and then as Mayor of Gillette, Wyoming. He was elected as Wyoming State Representative and then as Wyoming State Senator. He has been a U.S. Senator since 1997. In the Senate, he is Chairman of the Budget Committee and a member of the Finance Committee, Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and the Joint Committee on Taxation. On the issues, Enzi is opposed to abortion rights, same-sex marriage, and balancing the budget by raising taxes on the rich. He is in favor of repealing the Affordable Care Act. He dismisses climate change, as follows, “It's a little hard to convince Wyoming people there's global warming. We have 186% of normal snow pack.” Americans for Prosperity (Koch brothers conservative political action group) rates Enzi at 100%. Enzi also is a strong supporter of gun rights and is ranked very favorably by the National Rifle Association (NRA). Mike’s wife Diana has a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming as well as a master's degree in adult education. They have two daughters, one son and four grandchildren.
